Tamaskan Registries

Tamaskan Registries

With the breed still being under development and having open stud books, the Tamaskan Dog is currently not recognized by the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale), AKC (American Kennel Club), CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) or KC (The Kennel Club UK).

The Tamaskan Dog has a total of 5 official registries worldwide, that operate independently from each other, but share the common goals of maintaining accurate records, to promote and raise awareness, and further the health and well-being of the Tamaskan breed. It is possible for breeders to register their dogs and litters with more than one registry as long as they adhere to the regulations and code of ethics of each registry they choose to register with.

Tamaskan Dog Register (TDR)

The Tamaskan Dog Register (TDR) was founded in February of 2006 to serve as the official breed registry for all authentic Tamaskan Dogs worldwide. It established a comprehensive list of rules and regulations for registered breeders as well as a code of ethics. This includes a set of mandatory health, structure, genetic, and temperament requirements for all breeding or potential breeding dogs as well as standards of practice for breeding and whelping litters. Since 2016 the TDR is registered as a 501(c)(4) charitable corporation in the United States.

International Tamaskan Register (ITR)

The International Tamaskan Register (ITR) was founded in May 2019 by former members of the TDR Committee of Breeders. The ITR primarily serves as a breed registry to maintain accurate records and oversee the Tamaskan breed as a whole. The ITR issues registration paperwork via the two ITR Registrars (one in Europe and one in North America) whilst maintaining the Tamaskan pedigree database and health records for all ITR registered Tamaskan Dogs worldwide.

Nederlandse Tamaskan Club (NTC)

The Dutch Tamaskan Club (NTC) was founded in May 2013. The NTC functions as both a registry and a breed club. Outside of maintaining breed records and issuing registration paperwork the club also organises breed events (e.g. shows, group walks, workshops, lectures), issues a quarterly club magazine, and holds an annual members meeting where members can discuss topics concerning the breed or club and vote on policy and regulation changes. Most NTC members reside within the Netherlands, but the club also has a handful of international constituents.
